John P. Scordo, Esq.

Professional Experience:

Mr. Scordo is a Partner at the law firm of Day Pitney LLP and is admitted to the Bars of the States of New York and New Jersey.  Day Pitney  is a 100 year-old law firm with approximately 400 attorneys and has offices in New York, New Jersey, Hartford, Boston and Washington D.C.

Mr. Scordo is vice-chair of the Insurance and Reinsurance Disputes group, practices in the area of commercial litigation in state and federal courts, primarily involving commercial disputes, insurance, mass tort and securities. He counsels clients on issues involving data protection, privacy breach litigation and electronic discovery.

His experience includes the handling of complex litigation and the negotiation of claims/coverages under all types of insurance, including liability, directors' and officers', property/business interruption, network security, data breach liability, fidelity, title/closing protection, cargo, environmental impairment, excess, Side A DIC, umbrella, life/accident, aviation, secured creditor impaired property, media/publishers', employment practices, professional liability, errors and omissions, health and group benefits, ERISA/fiduciary and workers' compensation/employers' liability. Mr. Scordo is a member of the firm's multi-disciplinary Nanotechnology practice group, focusing on insurance issues.

Mr. Scordo regularly represents both purchasers and suppliers in disputes involving large commercial supply contracts and the UCC, and represents defendants in personal injury/mass tort and premises liability/security cases. He has also represented landlords and tenants in disputes involving commercial real estate, and lenders in litigation involving the foreclosure and collection of large commercial loans.

Mr. Scordo is a commercial arbitrator for the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) and has presided over and decided many complex cases. He represents both claimants and respondents in commercial and security arbitrations and litigations. He started with the firm in 1989 following a clerkship in the New Jersey Superior Court, Appellate Division.
